The apartments are lovely and the proprietor is a warm, accommodating, and very thoughtful person, who goes above and beyond to make make your visit memorable. I truly enjoyed my stay there and would highly recommend this rental for your Tuscan holiday!

Pietra Grezza is in a magical setting surrounded by forest, rolling hills, olive groves and vineyards. From its beautiful location high above the Arno Valley, you can see sweeping vistas of the surrounding countryside. Small villages and larger towns are situated throughout the area so restaurants and stores, banks etc are within easy reach by car. Access to the Autostrada is nearby, bus and trains are close so we found that it was very easy to travel everywhere. We realized taking the train to Florence was much easier than driving through the traffic and hunting for parking. It is only approximately a 30 minute trip through beautiful countryside to the main terminal of Santa Maria Novella.
The accommodation at Pietra Grezza was charming. We had lovely views over the valley through large open windows which brought cooling breezes through the apartment day and night. The kitchen was well stocked with utensils and dishes, all linens and towels were provided. A wonderful historic open fireplace could even be used as a Tuscan grill. We had many wonderful meals on the terrace and spent lazy afternoons reading on lounges surrounded by huge pots of rose-colored hydrangeas.
Alberto, owner of Pietra Grezza, was very accommodating and helpful, doing everything possible to make our stay the best possible. His homemade jams are delicious! He keeps the gardens around the villa full of blooming roses, lavender, herbs and fruit trees.
We had a wonderful time and certainly plan to return as soon as we are able. I highly recommend this property.

For the past seven months I've been renting the middle apartment, "Antico Camino." I've only praise for it, and also for Alberto, the owner, who lives in the ground floor apartment of the converted three-storey, 18th C. hunting lodge some 21 km SE of central Florence. Alberto manages to be both extremely helpful and caring of his guests and property, without ever being invasive and nosey. He knows the region well, justifiably loves his home and the Tuscan countryside, and tirelessly keeps the spacious and beautiful grounds in trim. In comparison to the other property for rent on this isolated hilltop, namely, the medieval "castello" across the yard from the hunting lodge, Alberto offers something truly individual and memorable. He and his wife, Donatella, are sincere, very kind people.
. I am extremely sad to be leaving and I can only hope to return, even if only as a short-term holidaymaker.

We thought we were lost in the hills of Tuscany until we happened across Alberto. He took the time to direct us to our accommodation. He quickly became our "go to guy" for everything, as our landlady was not present for most of our two month stay. (Great neighbor eh) We stayed at the apartment beside Alberto's house. People we knew rented one of Alberto's apartments while they were visiting us so we spent most of our time at his place because it was so much nicer than ours! Not only does it have a fabulous view, the apartment is well equipped with all the modern conveniences you need. The bathrooms and bedrooms are well equipped and comfortable. Alberto is a fabulous host and goes above and beyond to help his guests. I would not hesitate to recommend you stay at Alberto's. He accepts people for short and long term stays. Even though we weren't staying at Alberto's he helped us more than our landlady. Don't hesitate to go. On my next visit to Tuscany this is where I will stay!

When:Middle of August till End of September 06, six weeks -La Pietra Grezza is located approximately 20km south-east of Florence and is in a beautiful quiet area surrounded by olive groves vineyards and forests. We had our own 30'+ 30' walled stone patio, with two lounge chairs and a covered eating area. where we ate almost all of our meals, plus read/painted, and shared wine and star gazed. The apartment was clean. We had two bedroom. The furniture was family antique's that had belonged to the landlords grandparents. The beds were fine. We also had a sitting room, with a TV. We had a fully functional kitchen with everything we needed to cook our meals. The dining room had a wonderful old fireplace. The two big bonuses were (1) the patio, was a beautiful extension of our apartment. The second bonus was Alberto, the owner. He was our unofficial guide and translator. He would go over maps with us, make suggestions about places to go and things to see. He went out of his way to help us make phone calls and made our stay a pleasant experience. We really loved our time spent at La Pietra Grezza and would love to come back someday we would recommend it to anyone.
